The Associate Degree of Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, practice in a dynamic environment, and meet individual needs that impact health, quality of life, and potential achievement. Coursework includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team, providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics.
Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), which is required for practice as a Registered Nurse. Employment opportunities are vast within the global healthcare system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community healthcare facilities.

The Accelerated ADN transition option is a 15-month fast track that prepares students for a rewarding career in nursing. This program is designed for individuals who are strong academically and who can attend school full-time, approximately 34-37 hours a week. Nursing applicants should be aware that in addition to the rigorous class schedule, it is recommended that students study an average of 10-15 hours per week to be successful in the course. Working while being a student in this program option may be difficult. The applicant must be a certified Nurse Aide I and listed on the NC Nurse Aide Registry without restrictions before the first class begins.

The following courses in the NUR curriculum will be granted credit for experience after successful completion of NUR 223: NUR 111 (Intro to Health Concepts), NUR 112 (Health-Illness Concepts), NUR 114 (Holistic Health Concepts) and NUR 211 (Healthcare Concepts). Competency objectives were met by earning the LPN credential from a regionally accredited institution, by meeting the benchmark ATI PN Comprehensive Predictor score, and for having a current LPN licensure issued by the Board of Nursing and for successfully completing NUR 223.
