Temporary Food Service Establishments

Single-Event Temporary Food Licenses and NEW! Multi-Event Temporary Food Service Establishment Licenses

What is a Temporary Food Service Establishment?

As defined in Chapter 10 Food Safety, of the Peoria County Code; a Temporary Food Service Establishment is a food service establishment that operates at a fixed location for a period of time not to exceed fourteen (14) consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration.

When is a Temporary Food License Required?

A Temporary Food License is required anytime food or mixed drinks are served at a special event, festival, fair or fundraiser that is open to the public, whether the food is sold or given away.

What is an Event Coordinator Information Sheet and When is it Required?

An Event Coordinator Information Sheet is a packet that is filled out and submitted by the individual or group responsible for planning and coordinating an event at which three (3) or more food or beverage vendors, including mobile food units, will be operating (example: craft/vendor fairs, farmers markets, festivals, carnivals). This application provides our Department with an overview of the event, as well as providing information on the availability of electricity, potable water, wastewater disposal, garbage disposal, etc.

The Event Coordinator Information Sheet must be submitted to this Department at least fifteen (15) business days prior to the event date to help us to better prepare vendors for the event and trouble-shoot any potential issues or challenges with meeting the Temporary Food License Rules. An Event Coordinator Information Sheet does NOT replace the need for each food and/or beverage vendor to obtain proper licensure from the Peoria City/County Health Department. There is no fee associated with an Event Coordinator Information Sheet.

What types of licenses are available for Temporary Food Service Establishments?
